Caritas Community Café

About

The Cafe is a place of welcoming, acceptance and belonging; a place to meet and make friends, a place where we try to break down barriers between those who apparently have much and those who apparently have little.

We are the only Community Café on the island and we are fortunate to have an abundance of supportive, committed, generous and wonderful volunteers who offer a variety of life experiences and welcome everyone who walks through our doors. The Cafe thrives on a glorious mix of people - both volunteers and guests [as we like to call our customers] all bring something unique and special to the café and by supporting us, are giving something back to their community and the island as a whole.

We use seasonal produce from our Market Garden and offer wholesome, home cooked foods at affordable prices, we encourage those who afford more to do so.

Caritas works alongside many statutory agencies to provide volunteering opportunities to vulnerable people. Some of our work involves cooking sessions at the local prison who make an array of spectacular cakes, in addition we have a market garden run by ex-offenders that supplies anabumdance of seasonal vegetables used daily in the cafe and sold at the Saturday farmer’s market. To find out more about the work of Caritas check out our Facebook page @Caritas Community LBG.
